I'm sorry for the lack of updated, and I just got back here to deliver the news. This sad news. [link]

Why now that we're very close? WHY? Just this late March he went to our house to visit me and my parents, he's very energetic and lively, very much alive.

We used to go to their house, me especially, to visit him because it makes him and my auntie Happy. I think he's bored and he wants some company whenever he's not busy with his artworks or workshop or exhibits. So he really likes me to be around. I dunno, my aunt said he grew fond of me, and I never got the chance to tell him how much I'm fond of him too. I used to think that he's a grumpy old man, but he's the opposite. He's just honest and frank. He says what in his mind and he don't like to sugarcoat things around him. And I think he's funny. A very witty and intelligent man. I used to laugh at things he says because of how true they are.

He passed away 1am, May 11, 2012 Friday. I regret not going to their house to visit him a day before. I planned on going there on Friday afternoon to visit, show him my latest artworks, I wanna tell him how much I've improved since the last time he commissioned me, but I'm too late. That same day he passed away. THIS IS JUST TOO SAD. My mom texted me that morning, telling me to go to see my aunt because Uncle Tony was gone. I JUST CAN'T.

We stayed at the funeral that Saturday through Sunday. We went home later that day and tonight we'll be back again to spend the rest of the night at the funeral again. It's his last night, then the cremation will take place at Tuesday 10am (if i'm not mistaken).

I hope TV crews will stay away this time, I mean, it's fine if they wanna interview my auntie and other family members (I remember moving from chair to chair just so I can get away from the camera and the reporter 'coz she might interview me too afghjkl) we appreciate their wanting to know what really happened and that they want to give a tribute to my uncle until the very last time (though they already did that already many times) but this very last time, we wanna be able to be with him in peace.

Here is some facts on why he's a big lost at Art Industry world-wide and why many people love him dearly...

Tony DeZuniga was a Filipino comics artist and illustrator best known for his works for DC Comics, who co-created the fictional character, Jonah Hex and Black Orchid with John Albano.
DeZuniga was the first Filipino comic book artist whose work was accepted by American publishers, paving the way for many other Filipino artists to do break into the international comic book industry.

DeZuniga also served as an introduction to what would be a 1970s influx of Filipino artists to American comics, prompting Orlando and DC publisher Carmine Infantino to visit the Philippines in 1971 to scout talent. Among the artists found there who would soon become mainstays of both DC and Marvel Comics were Alfredo Alcala, Alex Niño, Nestor Redondo, and Gerry Talaoc.

He worked for industry leaders Marvel and DC for 18 years, drawing such prominent Marvel characters as the X-Men and Spider-Man. On an interview that we've watched during the funeral he's also the one who designed Thor, Hulk and even Spider Man. I'm in awe. He also drew titles such as Black Orchid, Arak, Son of Thunder, Wierd Western tales, Conan, etc.

Filipinos should be proud of Tony de Zuniga for having his work with his name on the United States Postage Stamp when Marvel Superheroes were chosen to put on the stamps.  They unveil the stamps at the last Comic Con in San Diego, July 2007.

I'm sorry for being inactive, I think I'll still be until the end of the month. I have so many things to do in real life and the stress is slowly getting on me. However, I'm active in tumblr...
